Department Chair – Computer Science and EngineeringAmerican University of Ras Al KhaimahThe Department Chair is expected to lead the department in achieving excellence in teaching, research, accreditation, and community engagement. The successful candidate should have the academic credentials to teach undergraduate courses such as Advanced Programming, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Big Data, and Data Analytics, in addition to a demonstrated ability to lead curriculum development and assessment initiatives.Primary Responsibilities IncludeProviding academic and administrative leadership for the Department of Computer Science and EngineeringLeading and overseeing ABET accreditation processes and ensuring compliance with CAA standards and requirementsSupporting continuous improvement through assessment, learning outcomes evaluation, and data-driven decision-makingTeaching undergraduate courses aligned with departmental needsLeading faculty development, mentoring, and performance evaluationEstablishing and/or sustaining a nationally or internationally recognized research agendaEncouraging and supporting the acquisition of external research fundingRepresenting the department at the school and university levels, and serving on key committeesAdvising and mentoring studentsPromoting outreach activities, industry collaboration, and community engagementRequired QualificationsEarned Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence or a related computing discipline from an accredited institutionDemonstrated academic leadership experience, such as serving as department chair, program coordinator, or in a comparable roleProven experience with ABET accreditation, including assessment, documentation, and continuous improvement processesKnowledge of and experience with CAA accreditation standards and reporting requirementsUniversity-level teaching experienceStrong record of scholarship and research productivityExcellent oral and written communication skills in EnglishCommitment to excellence in teaching and student successAbility to work effectively with a diverse faculty and student populationDemonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplinesApplication ProcessApplicants are requested to submit complete applications.
