Senior AI Engineer

Role DescriptionSutra Management is an analytics-driven advisory firm that leverages data, analytics and AI to help businesses improve performance. We are looking for an Senior AI Engineer to join our team and support the design, development and deployment of AI and machine learning solutions for leading banking and financial services clients in UAE / KSA.The role requires a strong combination of software engineering, AI/ML implementation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate analytical concepts and business requirements into scalable, production-ready AI solutions. Prior experience working with banks / financial institutions is preferred.Design, develop and deploy AI / ML solutions across banking and financial services use cases.Work closely with Data Scientists, Consultants and business stakeholders to convert business requirements into production-ready AI solutions including technical integration design and deployment plans.Develop and integrate Generative AI, LLM and Agentic AI solutions, including RAG-based applications, AI agents, conversational applications and intelligent automation.Work with structured and unstructured data including transactional data, customer data, documents, text and other enterprise data sources.Implement model inference, prompt engineering, evaluation and optimization for GenAI applications.Contribute to rapid development of POCs and MVPs, and subsequently help transition successful solutions into production.Support deployment of AI solutions across cloud and enterprise environments, including monitoring, logging and performance optimization.Apply appropriate practices around security, data privacy, access control, explainability and responsible AI, particularly for regulated banking environments.Troubleshoot technical and business issues across the AI solution lifecycle and independently drive resolution of implementation challenges.Work with client technology and data teams to understand existing environments, APIs, data sources and integration requirements.Stay current with emerging developments in GenAI, LLMs, AI Agents, ML engineering and AI application development, and identify opportunities to apply them to banking use cases.Skill Set3–7 years of experience in AI Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field.Strong hands-on programming experience in Python and familiarity with software engineering best practices.Practical experience with Machine Learning and AI frameworks, APIs, data processing and application development.Hands-on experience with Generative AI / LLMs, including prompt engineering, embeddings, vector databases, RAG and/or AI Agents.Experience with frameworks and technologies such as OpenAI / Azure OpenAI, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face or equivalent is preferred.Strong understanding of SQL, data pipelines, APIs and database technologies.Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and containerization technologies such as Docker is a must have.Exposure to MLOps / LLMOps, model deployment, monitoring and CI/CD is an advantage.Prior experience working with banks / financial institutions and understanding of banking data, processes and regulatory considerations is preferred.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work independently in an unstructured and fast-paced consulting environment.Strong communication skills and ability to interact with both technical and business stakeholders.Ability to work effectively in teams and take end-to-end ownership of assigned deliverables.The candidate should demonstrate a builder mindset, strong ownership, curiosity and the ability to rapidly learn and apply new AI technologies to solve complex banking problems.
